Origin

India presents a vast burden of non-communicable diseases especially cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes and chronic renal disease. The conditions have been all pervasive across the wealth quintiles and geographical regions. This has led to a massive loss of man-days and productivity among the working age groups and elderly. In recent times, productivity among youth below 30 years has been seriously affected, with several lifestyle risk factors gaining prominence. This is likely to lead to serious problems in the future with more people affected by chronic diseases.Recognizing the urgency of the need to address these challenges, three visionaries set out to respond in the form of an institution that seeks to focus only on chronic disease prevention. The founder trustees, Mr. Harpal Singh, Mr. Noshir Dadrawala and Mr. Sanjiv Verma set up Chronic Care Foundation in 2006, registering as a charitable trust. The organization has undertaken several dynamic programs in the last decade and has been at the forefront of the fight against chronic diseases, with a people-centric focus.
